The Blame Game

The blame game seems to be a norm here in Rota...

Our internet still hasn't been connected and it doesn't seem like anyone is willing to help us.

This morning we decided to go to the Fleet and Family Service Center, because they should be able to point us in the right direction.... right??

Well we drove over there and talked to someone at the front desk and once again we got the *sigh* and the "oh, yeah it takes a while" speech.... which I am so TIRED of hearing right now.

We once again stressed our plight about the fact that we don't even have a phone line, which Navy Legal had said was actually a safety issue.... to this one person decided to try get the phone line taken care of...

Ok now what....

We decide to then drive over to the building where we had seen the vehicles for the phone and internet company.... hopefully we can get someone over there to help us.

We drove over and found three of their cars parked at the building, but no one around, we decided to try talk to them to find out what is going on... basically, because we have been told it is Telefonica (the company dealing with the phone and internet here), that is dragging their feet, because they couldn't care less...

As we are sitting in the car debating on what to do, I saw someone leave the building, so I darted out of the car, across the street and try my hand at Spanish (with the little bit I know), the story then comes out, that they haven't received the order for our phone or internet, and they couldn't even help us if they wanted to, because they have not yet been paid for the contract with the base...

FREAKING SWEET HUH??!!???

So it turns out that they are not the ones dragging their feet, they are sitting on work orders that they need to complete, but are not allowed to because the allotted money they were to receive has not yet been approved, it's sitting on the Contracting Officers desk, because he is to lazy to get off his ass and do some bloody work.

So after then driving to the building where we initially signed up for the phone and internet and complain, the lady calls up to try find out what is going on, naturally this is the perfect time for the damn fire alarm to go off!!

Nice

We end up leaving, but calling the office number (they are now back from lunch), and complain up a storm, she informs us the phone line should be fixed tomorrow.. and the internet, she has no idea...

We get home and we aren't there more than 10 min and "ring.... ring..." Our house phone is ringing WHALAH the house phone works, we beg the guy on the other line (informing us our line is now active... well duh..), to find out about the internet (once again trying my hand at my broken Spanish)... he says he'll call them and see what's going on...

We are still waiting for them to get back to us.

So as the Navy here is blaming everything on the "lazy Spaniards, low and behold it's the Navy that's not putting fire under there lazy-ass employees, so that we can have internet in our homes.

We do online schooling for goodness sake!!!

And so it goes....

I really thought that the Navy looked after theirs especially if you are sent to a foreign country they want you to feel at home as an American no matter where they send you. Bad bad bad :(
