Art Theft

I am so tired of reading about art theft, it's such an ongoing issue, year and centuries of pieces stolen, from art, coins, war memorabilia and cultural heritage pieces.

Artifacts are being recovered on a regular basis, which is a positive sign. All the countries seem to be following the INTERPOL General Secretariat guidelines and keeping the databases up to date, this is definitely the way to help minimize the length of times each piece is missing.

I still just don't understand the mindset of those who choose to steal a prominent Monet, Van Gogh or Rembrandt, where are they seriously thinking of selling, displaying or keeping any of these?

As soon as any prominent pieces of art are stolen, the thieves try to sell it and they get arrested, the try to display it and it's noticed and they are arrested, it's such a short-lived "high."

I guess I won't ever really understand, maybe they just need to get caught for something?

Well back to reading...
